Invoice recovery
Unpaid invoice recovery in Dubai and the UAE
One overdue invoice or a full aged receivable ledger. We verify the debt, establish why it was not paid, and pursue it on a structured schedule — on a no win, no fee basis, with nothing payable up front.
Why invoices actually go unpaid
Almost every unpaid invoice has one of four explanations, and the right response is different in each case. Establishing which one you are looking at is the first thing we do — chasing a documentation gap as though it were avoidance wastes months.
| Reason | How it presents | Response |
|---|---|---|
| Cash flow | Debtor engages, apologises, promises dates and misses them | Documented settlement or instalment schedule — usually recoverable |
| Documentation gap | Debtor queries a PO number, a delivery note or a rate | Close the gap and re-present. Often resolves in days |
| Genuine dispute | Objection raised at the time, in writing, before the demand | Establish the real quantum and negotiate a commercial figure |
| Avoidance | No response at all, or promises with no engagement | Formal demand, then verify solvency before escalating |
Age is the variable that matters most
Recovery odds fall as an invoice ages, and they fall faster in this market than in most. Staff turnover is high, so the people who agreed the terms leave; free-zone entities are wound up and re-established; and other creditors reach the debtor first.
The practical threshold is around 60 to 90 days past due combined with a change in the quality of the answers you are getting. When "we'll process it this week" becomes "accounts is looking at it", internal collection has stopped working.
If you are carrying a book of aged receivables rather than one problem account, place them together. Batch placement carries less per-file overhead, which is reflected in the commission rate, and it lets us triage — the accounts most likely to pay get worked first instead of everything being worked equally.
What strengthens an invoice claim
- A signed contract, LPO or accepted quotation. Turns an assertion into an agreement. The most useful document you can send.
- Proof of delivery or acceptance. The most common line of attack from a debtor is that the goods or services were never properly supplied.
- A written acknowledgement of the balance. An email saying "we'll pay the 180,000 next month" is frequently worth more than the invoice itself.
- A clean statement of account. Shows what has been paid and removes the argument about what remains.
- The debtor's correct legal name. Not the trading name on the shopfront.
Missing several of these does not mean the debt cannot be recovered. It means we will tell you where your position is weak before you commit to anything.
How the recovery runs
Standard five stages: free assessment, verification, formal demand, negotiation, and escalation only if the debtor will not engage. Invoice claims resolve at the demand stage more often than any other category, because there is rarely a principled objection to raise — only a decision about who gets paid first.
Invoice recovery FAQs
Common questions
How overdue should an invoice be before I place it?
As a working rule, 60 to 90 days past due combined with answers that have stopped being straight. Waiting longer reduces the odds without improving anything — and having a claim assessed costs nothing, so there is no reason to delay the question even if you delay the decision.
Can you recover invoices in a currency other than dirhams?
Yes. Claims are frequently denominated in USD, EUR or GBP, particularly on cross-border supply. Currency is captured on the claim form and does not by itself complicate recovery.
The debtor is querying one line on the invoice and withholding the whole amount. Is that normal?
Extremely, and it is usually tactical. A partial query does not justify withholding the undisputed balance, and pointing that out plainly in a formal demand often releases most of the money while the disputed line is resolved separately.
Do you charge per invoice or per claim?
Commission is charged on what is recovered, not per document. Several invoices against the same debtor are handled as one claim.
