Consumer debt collection in Dubai

Recovery of amounts owed by individuals — unpaid service accounts, instalment defaults, personal balances and outstanding fees — handled professionally and within the conduct standards that apply in the UAE.

Where consumer debt comes from

The creditors who place individual accounts with us are usually service providers who extended credit as a matter of course and then found the customer unreachable:

  • Clinics, hospitals and dental practices — patient balances after insurance settlement.
  • Schools and training institutions — unpaid fees.
  • Property managers and landlords — rent arrears, service charges, damages.
  • Fit-out, maintenance and home service providers — completed work, unpaid balance.
  • Finance and instalment providers — defaulted schedules.
  • Professional services — retainers and fee balances.

Why individual debt is not simply small commercial debt

Two differences change the whole approach.

Capacity, not ranking. A commercial debtor usually can pay and is deciding who to pay first. An individual debtor frequently cannot pay the full amount at all. That makes a realistic instalment settlement the likely good outcome rather than a fallback, and it makes an aggressive demand actively counterproductive.

Conduct. The standards governing contact with an individual are stricter and the reputational exposure to you as the creditor is higher. A clinic that is reported for how its debts were chased has lost far more than the balance.

How debtors are contacted

Professionally, in reasonable hours, directly with the debtor. We do not contact employers or family members to apply pressure, we do not use threats, and we do not use the prospect of criminal consequences as leverage. Beyond the conduct question, it produces worse recovery: a debtor who feels cornered stops answering the phone.

The realistic outcome on most individual accounts

A documented instalment settlement the debtor can actually meet. It is worth being clear about this before you place a claim, because a creditor expecting full payment within thirty days will treat a workable schedule as a failure when it is usually the best available result.

Our commission on an instalment settlement is charged proportionally against each payment as it arrives, not as a lump sum at the outset — so our incentive matches yours, which is that the schedule actually holds.

What we need

  • The agreement, terms or signed acceptance the individual entered into.
  • Invoices or a statement of account showing the balance.
  • The debtor's full name as it appears on their identification, and any contact details you hold.
  • Any post-dated or security cheque — this changes the route, see cheque recovery.
  • A record of the contact you have already made.

When we will decline

Where the balance is undocumented, the individual has left the country and no cheque or written acknowledgement exists, recovery is usually not realistic. We would rather say so than take the file on a contingency basis and let it sit. The assessment is free either way.

Consumer recovery FAQs

Common questions

Will chasing the debt expose us to a complaint?

Not if it is done correctly, which is the point of using an agency that works within the applicable conduct standards rather than one that treats pressure as a method. All contact is documented, so if a complaint is ever made there is a record of exactly what was said.

The debtor says they cannot pay. Do we just write it off?

Not necessarily. "Cannot pay in full now" and "cannot pay at all" are very different positions, and most individual debtors are in the first. A schedule that fits their actual capacity recovers considerably more than a demand that does not.

Can you collect from someone who has left the UAE?

It is much harder and often not realistic. It depends on whether anything was signed, whether a cheque was given, and whether they retain any connection to the jurisdiction. We will give you a straight answer at the assessment rather than take the file and hope.

Do you handle batches of small consumer accounts?

Yes, and batches are usually more efficient than individual placements. Volume is reflected in the commission rate.
